Duel Scene (John Wilkes and Samuel Martin)

Victorian picture showing a duel scene, the duel between John Wilkes and Samuel Martin (1763).  Martin  (supporter of George III) has just shot and wounded Wilkes, the radical libertarian. The duellers and their seconds stand benath trees; they wear frock coats, waistcoats, breeches, riding boots, three-cornered hats and wigs, and have swords slung round their waists.
