Gathering seaweed for fertiliser

Victorian illustration to download showing farmers on a beach gathering seaweed as a fertiliser for their land. Men in small boats load seaweed on to horse-drawn carts. Seaweed has been used for centuries as a fertiliser, especially in coastal areas; seaweed is a source of potassium, magnesium and trace elements. This illustration was sketched in the Channel Islands, where the seaweed was used to fertilise the potato fields.
