Horse-drawn omnibus

Victorian illustration to download showing passengers travelling in De Tivoli’s patent horse-drawn omnibus, 1860. Men sit on the open top deck, and another man waves from the platform, while women and a man sit in compartments on the lower deck. This omnibus was designed to reduce overcrowding and improve access by having three separate compartments on the lower deck, one on each side and one at the back, each with its own door, accessed by a railed platform running round the bus.
